Introduction
There are 4 options that the student may follow in the Diploma in Health and Social Studies. These are;
- The BTEC National Diploma in Caring (Incorporating the FETAC Certificate in Community Care) - 2 years
- The BTEC Higher National Diploma in Care Practice (Incorporating the FETAC Certificate in Community Care) - 2 years
- BTEC Higher National Diploma in Care Management (Incorporating the FETAC Certificate in Community Care) - duration of the programme will depend on prior learning and qualifications
- Advanced Certificate in Community Development - FETAC Level 6 (Entry requirement FETAC Level 5/BTEC Level 3 or equivalent)

Candidates
most likely to benefit from the course will have a keen interest
in Social Care. Selection is on the basis of an interview to determine
the individual's suitability for the course. Open to mature students

The Higher National Diploma in Care Practice comprises of 16 Units relating to;
- Health and Social Care
- Personal Development
- Vocational Practice
Entry requirements for this course are a good academic standard in the Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
| Higher National Diploma in Care Management |
The Higher National Diploma in Care management comprises of 16 Units relating to Health and Social Care
Entry requirements include
- Prior learning and experience in the field of Health and Social Care or Early Childhood Education.
- Interview

Certificate in Nursing Studies
This is a one or two year full time certificate programme designed to equip students with the basic skills and knowledge to progress to further studies or employment in the nursing field Students have the option to complete the course over two years. By doing this they can also obtain a Diploma in Social Studies
